Expelled Exposed

I noticed Expelled was playing at my local Movie Theater.

I can't let this slip past without commenting. If you followed the Dover trial a few years ago, you know that Intelligent Design was exposed as rank Creationism, and worse, those trying to argue Intelligent Design was somehow science knew full well their claim wasn't true, but they were willing to lie to get their way ("their way" being the teaching of ID in science class as if actual science).

Well, the Discovery Institute's shaded truths are back, this time in the guise of a movie that is apparently seeing wide release.

A great place to learn more about this movie is a website created and maintained by the National Center for Science Education: ExpelledExposed.Com.

ExpelledExposed clearly reveals "why this movie is not a documentary at all, but anti-science propaganda aimed at creating the appearance of controversy where there is none."

Making the Constitution More Like The Bible

I've commented earlier on how crazy Huckabee is in wanting to make the constitution accord to god's word, as if he is on the inside track as to what that might be. It's more than just crazy; it's scary. (Actually, it is just pandering, but read on anyway . . .)

Look how badly such a policy turned out for contemporary states who've decided gods laws are good laws for human society: A student journalist in Afghanistan has been sentenced to death for downloading and distributing a report that is critical of the oppressive treatment of women in some Islamic societies.

Brain-Eating Amoebas and Intelligent Design

As I'm sure many of you have read, brain-eating amoebas enter the body through the nose, whereupon they travel to the brain to feed. Lately, they've killed several people.

Intelligent Design likes to claim that all creatures were created by a benevolent higher entity they call the the "designer" (which is a code word for the Abrahamic God).

Then along come brain-eating amoebas. The mere fact brain-eating amoebas exist disprove the idea of an intelligent designer.

Or, more accurately, brain-eating amoebas disprove the idea of a benign intelligent designer. [cue scary music]
